Omar Lucio Rodriguez
Omar Lucio Rodriguez is a police officer who became a GOJoven Fellow at the age of 29. Omar has served as the GOJoven Belize Program Training Coordinator and is a graduate of the GOJoven Training of Trainers workshops. He is an adept facilitator in the topics of emergency contraception, masculinity, gender equity, HIV/AIDS, team building and team integration. Omar is passionate about confronting the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and has served as the chairperson for the San Ignacio, Cayo Branch of the National AIDS Commission. Omar has also worked as a consultant for the Caring for Children project for all children affected by or who have acquired HIV/ AIDS in Belize. In addition, he has served as a board member for Cornerstone Foundation, and has collaborated with Youth for the Future to educate students on issues of human rights and the rights of children. Omar has also volunteered his time counseling couples and men at Mary Open Door, a women’s organization, where he emphasizes violence prevention.
