Shantel Jacobs Twenty-Seven (27) years of age and is a member of the 2015 GOJoven Belize Cohort; she is a woman with the ambition and commitment to restore her community to a better place. Shantel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the University of Belize. She currently holds the post of Human Resources Officer in the Human Resources Department at the Belize Social Security Board.
Shantel is currently completing a Master Training program to become a Road Safety Master Trainer conducted by YOURS – Youth for Road Safety. She is also concluding a 'Youth Stars' programme created by iRAP – International Road Assessment Program, sponsored by FedEx. Shantel is one of the 5 Master Trainers from around the world to be trained on the principles of the new 'Star Rating for Schools' methodology pioneered by iRAP. Upon completion she will train young leaders from Belize to undertake assessments to rate zones or roads around schools, universities, and other educational institutions using the new Star Ratings for Schools application.
Since inception of the Belizean youth 4 Road Safety (BYRS) she has play a crucial role and is now proud to say she is the president of BYRS for over the past 4 years. BYRS amplified her public relations skills and allowed her to impart knowledge and skills regarding road safety measures to her peers. During her years serving BYRS, she is also a member of the Belmopan Rotaract Club, a youth program created by Rotary International, and a group she loves volunteering for because it allows her to give back to her community.
To say the least, all these projects are a fundamental basis for her motivation and enthusiasm to work with youth and young adults. Shantel’s drive for creating positive growth in her community is the central pillar of her work, that is why she believes that provision of volunteer service can make such a positive contribution to Belizean society.
